Prof. Dr. Scott Cunningham is Professor at University of Strathclyde School of Government and
Public Policy, Glasgow, United Kingdom. He earned degrees in engineering and policy from the
Georgia Institute of Technology and Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) of University of
Sussex. After his PhD, he joined AT&T as a data scientist. He came back to Europe, and
academia, as he was recruited as an assistant professor in policy analysis at Delft University of
Technology. During working in industry, he worked for companies both large and small in the
fields of knowledge discovery and data mining. His experiences included earning six national
and international patents for his knowledge discovery work, and participating in successful
startups in the Bay Area of California. He is currently an Editor in-chief of journal Technological
Forecasting and Social Change.
Dr. Scott teaches a course on Data Science for the Engineering and Policy Analysis (EPA) to
MSc degree. He also teaches courses on text mining and text analysis for the edX platform.
Furthermore, he teaches actor and strategy models for the EPA degree, and courses on network
analysis and market design for the Systems Engineering and Policy Analysis (SEPAM) M.Sc.
degree.
